Zephyrs beat the Nashville Sounds 6-0

Triple A New Orleans has advanced to the Championship round of the Pacific Coast League.  Lead by Met second round pick and recent double A call up, Kevin Mulvey, the Zephyrs finished off the Sounds and are ready to play their next opponant on Tuesday at 7:10 PM.  The 22 year old Mulvey allowed only 4 hits over seven innings pitched.  Not bad.  He was chosen in the second round of the 2006 First Year Player Draft.  He looks to be a player to watch!

Go Zephyrs!

Humber leaves Mesa Solar Sox with tendinitis in shoulder.

The Farm No Comments

Philip Humber is no longer pitching with the Mesa Solar Sox after it was determined he had tendinitis in his shoulder.  This prompted and MRI to determine if there was any other damage.  The only other problem discovered was a bruised humerus, the bone to which several shoulder muscles are attached.  Most importantly, no damage to the rotator cuff was found.

Philip was the recipient of “Tommy John” surgery in ‘05 and had a brief stop on the big stage this year.  I expect some good things from this Rice University prospect.  There’s a decent amount of pitching talent in the minors for the Mets.  Humber & Pelfrey, of course.  But what about Henry Owens?  I liked the way he pitched.  I can’t wait until they can move him to the big club and make it a rough 7,8,9 for the opposition.  Owens, Sanchez, Wagner.  That could be great.  Hopefully Sanchez comes back OK.  Surgery is never a sure thing but these guys have the best in the world working on them so they should be in the highest percentile for success.

LET’S GO METS!
